Every fan of anime enjoys the thrill of experiencing incredible fights and nerve-wracking tension. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that 2022 was one of the best years when it comes to action anime and these are some of the very best that fans were treated to.
Spy x Family
Spy X Family was one of the most popular anime of 2022. Fans had waited for quite a long time for the inevitable adaptation of Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family manga. The anime follows the story of Anya, a child with psychic powers, Loid, a man on a very important mission preventing an all-out war from breaking out, and Yor, an assassin woman with her own goals. While this anime is very wholesome, it doesn’t shy away from kicking things up a notch by switching to amazing action when need be.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has always been an incredible anime series for fans to follow. 2022 saw the return of Jojo’s with Stone Ocean, the sixth part of the entire story. After wrapping up Giorno’s story in Part 5, JoJo’s now focused on Jolyne Cujoh, the daughter of Jotaro.
Stone Ocean was special and, as expected of every Jojo’s anime, the action in it was absolutely phenomenal. From the fights to all the new Stands introduced, Stone Ocean certainly lived up to all the expectations.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Cyberpunk Edgerunners is an anime that surprised quite a lot of fans in 2022. Due to it being a name that most fans are familiar with, checking this anime out was a given for the fans, however, very few expected it to be as dynamic and action-heavy as it was.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners ended up becoming one of the absolute fan favorites in 2022. And while the story was certainly not the greatest that anime has ever seen, the action certainly lit up the series and made sure that it made its way into conversations for the best action anime in 2022.
Bleach
Bleach made its return in late 2022 and, after years, fans good could finally enjoy the masterful work of Tite Kubo. The anime finally entered its final arc this year and, it’s safe to say that the action was not lacking.
The Thousand Year Blood War arc is one that splits opinion among the fans, however, it can’t be denied that the fights that it features are absolutely stunning. What Studio Pierrot bringing their very best, Bleach looked better than ever before.
Mob Psycho 100 III
When it comes to wholesome anime with incredible animation and outstanding action, Mob Psycho 100 often comes to one’s mind. 2022 saw the third season of Mob Psycho 100 get released and fans were delighted to see their favorite Shigeo Kageyama once again.

From an action and animation standpoint, Mob Psycho 100 III was absolutely phenomenal. The finale of the series goes down as one of the best-animated ones in the entire story and there is certainly more for fans to look forward to in the coming years.
Chainsaw Man
Produced by Studio Mappa, the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man was finally released in 2022 and fans got to experience the brilliance of Fujimoto’s work in anime form. Due to Chainsaw Man having a better production schedule than some other Mappa anime, the anime did look absolutely wonderful.
The action was top tier and for an anime like Chainsaw Man, this was certainly deserved. Denji and his friends received a lot of love from the brilliant artists working on the show, however, it must be highlighted that the working conditions in the studio need to be improved drastically for the employees to produce the quality that they’re capable of without risking their health.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen has taken anime fans by storm and in 2022, fans got to witness Jujutsu Kaisen’s first movie, Jujutsu Kaisen: 0 in the US. Being a movie, it was expected for the animation to be outstanding and it certainly delivered on that end. The plot in Jujutsu Kaisen isn’t as enticing, however, the action is where the show comes to life.
With Jujutsu Kaisen: 0, this was apparent more than ever and fans got to witness what could only be described as a masterpiece when it comes to action choreography and animation.
Attack On Titan
Attack on Titan is a phenomenon when it comes to all the anime out there and the story will forever be remembered as one of the most iconic ones. It is one of the very few anime that fires on all cylinders from start to finish. It is also very easy for fans to get into because it has a bit of something for everyone, from those who enjoy a deep story to those who enjoy high-octane action.
Attack on Titan managed to do both this year as well and left the fans’ jaws wide open. While there is certainly more to come, 2022 proved to be successful for Attack on Titan.
Demon Slayer
Demon Slayer is easily one of the best-animated stories out there and has left fans awestruck from the very first season. In 2022, fans got to see a continuation of Demon Slayer and things certainly lived up to the expectations that it had set before.
Demon Slayer is never lacking when it comes to action and with compelling characters such as Tanjiro and Rengoku at the forefront, fans were sure to never get bored.
One Piece
2022 was absolutely massive for One Piece for many reasons. Not only did the Wano Country arc hit its climax in the anime but from an action and animation standpoint, the series managed to level up, delivering some of the most incredible action episodes throughout the year with absolutely stunning animation featuring the fight between Luffy’s group against Kaido and his lackeys. Luffy’s journey is far from done and fans have many years of One Piece left ahead of them.
