The PlayStation Classic is certainly not without its flaws, but it’s still a steal at $20, with some absolute gaming classics as part of its lineup.
The list of PlayStation Classic games includes some landmark video game releases like Final Fantasy 7 and Metal Gear Solid. Other major titles include Resident Evil: Director’s Cut and the critically-acclaimed fighting game Tekken 3. It’s true that the PlayStation Classic uses the inferior PAL versions of the games, but even so getting all these titles for $20 is quite the bargain.

Unfortunately for those hoping to see Sony release an upgraded version of the mini console that addresses some of the current PS Classic’s flaws, that doesn’t seem like it’s in the cards. The PlayStation Classic failed to generate even a fraction of the interest as the NES and SNES Classics, which is partly why we’re seeing such steep price cuts for it with this Best Buy deal and similar sales at other retailers.
However, the failure of the PlayStation Classic doesn’t mean the retro mini console craze is over. On the contrary, other companies are also gearing up to release their own mini consoles, with a Sega Genesis Mini in the works that includes 40 games.
