With three stubble combs by default and the option for a dedicated body blade, this one razor can cover clean shaving, stylish stubble, or body grooming, all in an unbelievably portable form factor. It’s lightweight, powerful, and gives a great shave even on tricky areas like the jawline.
All that and it’s also one of the most affordable electric razors on the market. Although you’ll have to swap blades once every few months, at almost £10/$10 a pop, that still leaves it cheaper than most shaving solutions.

There are plenty of design touches that make it clear that this is a high-quality device. It has a powerful motor and is partly made from precision-engineered Japanese steel. It also features an LED display for both battery life and charging time. It has 3 hours of battery life but if you need them in a hurry, you’ll get 20 minutes of use for 20 minutes plugged in.
Still, its high-quality materials make it heavy.
If you travel often, you’ll appreciate the Micro-USB port on the base, which will allow you to leave the plastic stand at home.

The kit contains a cordless trimmer with a detachable trimmer head, eight further attachments that will either trim or shave hair, and a Gillette Fusion razor with two five-blade cartridges. Plus, there’s a charging stand, dusting comb, cable and accessories bag.
A full charge takes an hour and from that, you’ll get 100 minutes of trimming time. There’s a quick charge option as well, to give you enough power for a quick trim in a pinch.
You can use the trimmer and seven of the eight attachments wet or dry – you can’t use the body groomer head wet.
You probably won’t use all of the attachments but there’s enough here that you’ll find the right trimmers for all of your needs. However, this is for short hair only and anything over 2cm will need another tool.

The Series 7 is light (185g), ergonomic and has three flexible blades. It provides 24k cuts per minute, and three shaving elements with a 360-degree adaptive head system. It can be used wet or dry.
Its LED display shows battery level, plus indicators for the travel lock, if the head needs replacing or the shaver needs cleaning, and if the shaver is plugged in properly.
It takes an hour to charge and will deliver 50 minutes of shaving time, with a quick charge option to give you enough power for a single shave.
All Series 7 models feature the same shaver but different model numbers mean different accessories, so it’s worth browsing to get the add-ons you want.

The design and build is solid and the interchangeable head system works brilliantly, allowing you to swap between different attachments in seconds. The G4 comes with a wide range of different options including a mini foil shaver and detail trimmer. Combine them all and you can achieve just about any style.
Performance is excellent and battery life is good too, although we would like a power lead that plugs into a shaver point rather than a three pin plug.

Bulky clean & charge station is unnecessary
The Clean & Charge station is a little more questionable. It’s undeniably a convenient way to clean your razor, using an alcohol solution to automatically clean, lubricate, and dry the shaving head. It saves any worries about long-term dirt build-up as well. Still it’s a little noisy and takes some time to get the job done. Plus you can’t use it after a wet shave.
And it’s bulky, ugly, and expensive – both up-front and over time – so it’s only worth it for those with capacious bathroom cabinets.

It’s IPX5 water resistant so can be used in the shower, but also works fine if used dry.
Designed for those in a hurry and who want the minimum of hassle, the Gold also charges over USB and has a useful display showing the remaining battery power.
Ergonomic Budget-friendly Handy 'zoom' dial
Pop-up trimmer is ineffective
It also delivers in terms of providing different guard lengths, with a handy ‘zoom’ dial you can roll to change the setting.
Its battery will give you – at the very least – the promised 40 minutes of trimming time per charge. But there’s little in the way of extra features and the additional, pop-up precision trimmer is disappointing.

Unfortunately whether it’s down to design, power, or simply sharpness this razor simply doesn’t cut it, with inconsistent results and real difficulty shaving under the jaw.
That’s a particular shame since it’s so strong on looks, charging, and portability, thanks to the compact build, one-hour battery life, and two-hour charge time over Micro-USB.
This could still be a good choice for anyone who wants a snazzy shaver and doesn’t mind making a few extra passes every time in return. Otherwise, you can get better results for less elsewhere.
